If a user has not been added to the new software portal or is using an earlier version of SMART Notebook, the system administrator enters a product key to activate Notebook software on the user’s computer. After you add users to your school’s subscription, they can sign in to their accounts to use SMART Notebook software on any computer or device where it is installed-the SMART Notebook activation is no longer linked to a specific computer. If you’re a system administrator, you no longer need a product key to activate Notebook software on each user’s computer, provided you install or upgrade users to SMART Notebook 17 or later (19 recommended) and add each user’s SMART account email address to your school’s subscription in the new portal. This simplified subscription model is available for SMART Notebook 17 and later (19 recommended) through SMART’s Admin Portal. SMART has recently redesigned its licensing model to focus on subscriptions and users rather than product keys and activated computers.
